Symbolism

Sacred Earth | Grey & Cream Alpaca Fringe Wrap  is woven with sacred symbols drawn from Quechua cosmology

• Amaru (Serpent) - A powerful being symbolizing ancestral wisdom, renewal, and transformation, as it is associated with the Ukhu Pacha (the underworld)
• Apu Vininkunca (Rainbow Mountain) - A tribute to the natural majesty and unique beauty of this geological wonder in Peru
• Chakana (Chakana) - A sacred representation of the Andean cosmovision  and the connection between the earthly and spiritual worlds, also nown as the Andean Cross
• Kuntur (Condor) - A large and powerful spirit that dwells in the skies of the Andes and has a connection with the Hanaq  Pacha (celestial world) as a messenger
• Kuka K'intucha (Offering of 3 Sacred Coca Leaves) - This plant is used in ceremonies and rituals as an offering to the Apus (mountain spirits) and Pachamama (Mother Earth) in gratitude and to request protection and blessings.
• Qochakuna & Apukuna (Lagoons & Apus) - An expression of the harmony  between water and  mountains in the sacred  landscape of the Andes and  a symbol of the sacred bond between the people of Pacchanta and the  nature that surrounds  them.
• Tawa Qocha (Four Lagoons) - A representation of the sacred connection  between the community and the importance of these bodies of water in the daily life of  the community
• Tika (Flower) - Representation of the beauty, vitality, renewal, abundance and fertility in the Andean cosmovision, and is a  reminder of the earth's  generosity and the importance of honoring and respecting the natural  world around us

Together, these designs form a prayer of celebration for the sacred beauty and harmony of the Earth. Many of these symbols also speak to the sacred relationship between the Earth's landscape and the community, and the responsibility to live in right relationship with the land and her elements.

    •    Dry clean - or hang outside in the sun. Alpaca is a highly intuitive self cleaning fiber that works with the elements to return to it’s original form

    •    Gently spot clean with a soft, damp cloth for minor spills

    •   These items were not intended to be stored in closets. We recommend using them as home decor in between use. As with any wool be aware of moths.
