Crafted from 100% cotton and raw silk
Features the ancestral weaving techniques and designs
Ethically and directly sourced
Measures approximately 8” x 12”

Handwoven by Indigenous Wayuu women of the Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia and Venezuela, these one-of-a-kind clutches are crafted from 100% cotton with raw silk accents.  Each piece features the Tapizado punch needle weaving technique, creating a richly textured surface unlike traditional crochet and a Kanaa design.

Beautiful as an everyday statement piece or for carrying treasured ceremonial items.

Design & Symbolism

Each Wayuu clutch carries stories inspired by the landscapes, rhythms, and ancestral knowledge of the Wayuu people. The geometric patterns (Kanaas) woven into these pieces are often inspired by the natural world, honoring the relationship between humans, animals, plants, and the elements.

Makaa
Wayuunaiki word for City / Gathering Place
Maka represents the concept of a town or urban center in Wayuunaiki, the language of the Wayuu people. This design reflects the connection between traditional communities and the changing landscapes they navigate.
